Valheim Dev Team Expanding As The Game Surpasses 3 Million Sales
Valheim has taken the gaming industry by storm over the past few weeks, offering players a survival experience set in a world of Vikings and creatures galore. That said, it has officially been revealed that the title has surpassed 3 million sales on Steam and the dev team will now be expanding due to the overwhelming success.
During a recent interview with PC Gamer, Iron Gate Studio co-founder Henrik Törnqvist and Coffee Stain Publishing’s Sebastian Eriksson discussed the monumental success Valheim has seen in just the few weeks since launch. “We had a feeling that it would sell pretty well, at least to sustain us, you know,” Törnqvist said. “But it being a million seller, and now two million seller, is something we could never have guessed.” This, of course, was before it was revealed that the game had surpassed 3 million sales.
For those who don’t know, Iron Gate Studio is made up of five people. While it took five developers to get Valheim where it is now, it is understandable if Iron Gate would want to bring on more staff considering how successful the game is. Luckily, that is exactly what they are doing. “We will hire some people, absolutely,” Törnqvist said. “We are currently starting up that process. Yeah, there will be more people to handle everything, because we have reached our limit by now of everything we can do.”
Valheim is currently available on PC in Early Access via Steam. There is no telling when things will slow down, but we can’t wait to see where the title will go. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
