Unfinished Left 4 Dead “Dam It” Campaign Released for Free by Turtle Rock

Left 4 Dead

Sadly, there still is no word on whether not fans of the Left 4 Dead series will see number three, but that doesn’t mean there’s nothing new coming to the zombie shooter. Turtle Rock has made the unfinished “Dam It” campaign available for free to all players that already own this title. Chris Ashton, co-founder, took to the Turtle Rock forums to break the news and show gamers how they can download the campaign for themselves.

“Just finished putting the Dam campaign that we streamed a while back into a L4D addon. It’s gray box, and some code features are missing but it’s playable from beginning to end. It also includes two standalone survival maps that never shipped.”

As he states, even though there are some key features missing, the add-on is completely playable. Dam It “stitches together” L4D’s ‘Dead Air’ and ‘Blood Harvest’ campaigns. It is important to note that this is an unfinished campaign so naturally there are going to be a few components that are, well … unfinished.

The ‘Dam It’ webpage provides the download for the campaign as well as a full list of issues to expect. You can also check out the site for a detailed map graphic to prepare for your Left 4 Dead adventure.

Here are the known issues so far, as per the official site:

  • Fire, smoke and explosions do not trigger panic events in the hangars.
  • Zombies do not crawl all the time in the orchard.
  • Farm house mob does not spawn in the far side of the woods.
  • Covered bridge does not collapse with explosions.
  • Burned forest area is missing wandering fires.

Also among the “issue list” includes movements speeds that affect burn damage, wall collisions, and missing health and weapon kits.

In other Turtle Rock news, support for their latest title ‘Evolve’ has officially ceased. Though 2K games is taking over server responsibilities, Turtle Rock has officially has washed their hands of the PvP game. You can read all about it here and stay tuned to DFTG for all your gaming news!
