The Punisher Cancelled At Netflix After Two Seasons
Well, the day has finally come. The one day that many Marvel fans were likely hoping to never see – Netflix has officially cancelled The Punisher.
According to Deadline, there will be no season 3 of Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle taking on the baddies and dispensing justice in any way imaginable. “Showrunner Steve Lightfoot, the terrific crew, and exceptional cast including star Jon Bernthal, delivered an acclaimed and compelling series for fans, and we are proud to showcase their work on Netflix for years to come,” Netflix told Deadline.
In a post on his Instagram account, Bernthal thanked comic fans and the men and women who serve in the Armed Forces. Here’s what the actor had to say:
To say this comes as a surprise would be an overstatement. Netflix started picking off the Marvel series one by one, and it was only a matter of time before they took down The Punisher. Sadly, Jessica Jones has also met the same fate, which means the The Defenders and crew are out of work with the streaming giant. Here’s to hoping we can see their tales continued elsewhere.
