It looks like The Last of Us Part 2’s Ellie may be getting lucky in post-apocalyptic America. While the Naughty Dog title was unfortunately delayed back to the end of this May, development progress has seemingly been progressing smoothly, with the game recently getting an update to its website with an official rating from the ESRB. Said rating is pretty typical for another entry in The Last of Us series, though it also comes with a few surprises.

As revealed on the official website for The Last of Us Part 2, the ESRB gave the game a rating of M (17+), which was expected. While the usual suspects of Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, and Strong Language are listed as some of the reasoning behind the rating, some more surprising elements are there in the form of a warning for both Sexual Content and Nudity, making it the first Naughty Dog game that contains both. This won’t be something subtle, either, as the ESRB defines Sexual Content as “non-explicit depictions of sexual behavior, possibly including partial nudity.”

Given what we know and what we’ve seen thus far, Ellie appears to have a girlfriend who will seemingly be the driving force of many of Ellie’s choices throughout the game. While there is certainly a possibility of Sexual Content and Nudity showing up at any point in The Last of Us Part 2, my money is on it being reserved for the beginning parts of the game.

The Last of Us Part 2 is slated to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on May 29, 2020.
