Surprise Death Stranding Announcement Teased By Hideo Kojima
Having debuted footage at the trailer-filled Game Awards, Kojima Productions’ Death Stranding is looking to be as creepy and mysterious as ever. The trailer presents countless puzzling goings-on, including star Norman Reedus in various scenes of horror and a figure resembling a certain Metal Gear Solid character. In a recent interview, head-honcho Hideo Kojima noted how well the game’s development was going, also teasing a surprise Death Stranding announcement sometime in the near future.
Speaking with Dengeki PlayStation (via Gematsu), Kojima acknowledged the remarkable speed at which Death Stranding was being completed, with even publisher Sony Interactive Entertainment being surprised with the quickness of proceedings. He also went on to hint at a surprise in store for fans that will be revealed sometime in the new year.
Development on Death Stranding is going well enough that SIE told us, ‘We have never before seen a game being created at such a fast pace,’” Kojima said. “We are planning an announcement that will further surprise everyone in 2018.”
What exactly this surprise could be remains to be seen. Since Death Stranding‘s initial announcement at E3 2016, all of what we’ve seen of the game has only provided question-begging strangeness, from Guillermo del Toro cameos to that unsettling baby. If what Kojima has planned for 2018 is more surprising than that, we’re in for rudest of awakenings. Death Stranding has no current release date and will launch exclusively for PlayStation 4.
What do you think? Will this surprise Death Stranding announcement provide the strangest reveal yet, or is Kojima orchestrating a big ol’ troll?
