Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Banjo-Kazooie DLC Available Now (VIDEO)

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Banjo Kazooie DLC Releases TODAY (VIDEO)

Following the release of Hero from Dragon Quest, a number of DLC’s remain for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate–the next being Banjo-Kazooie from the classic Rare series of the same name. While the DLC’s initial showcase was quite the satisfying surprise, a release date was noticeably left missing and remained as such until Nintendo’s most recent Direct presentation. During the event, it was revealed that Banjo-Kazooie officially goes live today, the dubbed ‘Challenger Pack 3′ now available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Coinciding with the announcement, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Director Masahiro Sakurai hosted an in-depth showcase for the character, detailing the dual fighter’s moveset inspired by their trio of vibrant platforming adventures. The characters’ Final Smash attack, ‘The Mighty Jinjonator,’ was also shown off, spawning a living statue to send rival players tumbling off-screen–a reference to the finale of the original Rare-developed title.

In addition to the lovable Banjo-Kazooie, the video above also confirms a number of extras included in Challenger Pack 3. Spiral Mountain, one of the previous games’ most memorable locales was chosen as the characters’ fighting stage, it loaded with a number of familiar cameos such as the high-flying Gruntilda and Banjo’s sister Tooty running around the background. Additionally, ten songs from the series were confirmed to be part of the pack, each carefully re-arranged to match the tone of the fast-paced brawler.

As of now, Challenger Pack 3 is available on the Nintendo eShop for Fighters Pass members or as a separate download for $5.99 USD. This release marks yet another collaboration between Xbox and Nintendo following notable past partnerships as Minecraft cross-play and the release of Cuphead for Switch. Sakurai himself couldn’t help but sing the rival platform’s praises when he advertised the availability of Banjo-Kazooie for Xbox One. Amazingly, Xbox was one to reciprocate this bit of love over the company’s official Twitter account.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is out now for Nintendo Switch.
