Spyro: Reignited Trilogy Confirmed – New Trailer, Release Date, and Price Revealed (VIDEO)

Spyro Reignited Trilogy

The rumors can finally go away, as Activision has finally confirmed the one thing many fans have been waiting for – the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. With the updated version being handed off to Skylanders developer Toys for Bob, the trio of title will include Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon.

The best news of all is that not only will it be arriving on PlayStation 4, but the remaster will also be making its way to Xbox One. Both versions will be released on September 21st at the reasonable price of $39.99. Check out the official announcement trailer below to see what sort of gloriousness awaits:

The remastered trilogy will include over 100 levels for players to enjoy, whether they are returning to one of their favorite franchises, or they are assuming the role of the purple dragon for the first time. The music should sound somewhat familiar, as Stewart Copeland’s original soundtracks have been reimagined. As for the voice actors, many were brought back in to reprise their roles, including Tom Kenny, who was the voice of Spyro in the second and third titles.

Unfortunately, nothing has been mentioned about the trilogy making its way to PC or Nintendo Switch, but with the mega popular Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy finding a home on the two platforms, we can imagine that the little fire-breather won’t be left out. Speaking of Crash, those who own the N. Sane Trilogy can enter a secret code (up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, square) in the menu of Crash Bandicoot Warped to watch the announcement trailer above. For more about the upcoming trilogy, here’s what Activision had to say:

Spyro Reignited Trilogy is an awesome gaming experience that builds on the excellence of the first three games. Each level in Spyro Reignited Trilogy is mapped faithfully from the originals. The characters are creatively re-imagined with additional flair allowing fans to rekindle the fire with Spyro and his crew like never-before. Players will experience a trilogy that’s loaded with an astonishing amount of detail, refreshed modern day mechanics, full analog stick support and smooth camera handling.”

Toys for Bob Chief Creative Officer Paul Yan had this to add:

“We’re deeply passionate about staying true to the legacy of the original three Spyro games with the Spyro Reignited Trilogy. We’ve poured a lot of love into making the personalities and worlds feel just like fans remember them, while also keeping the game collection surprisingly fresh with lush, high definition detail. We’re bringing back the Spyro we all fell in love with 20 years ago.”

The Spyro Reignited Trilogy is set to arrive on September 21st for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming news going on right now, check out the following:
