Sonya Blade Mortal Kombat 11 Stunts Recreated By Stuntwoman (VIDEO)
While video games have only been able to approach photorealism in recent years, games have utilized the performances of live-action people as far back as the 1990s. One of the most notable early instances of this was Mortal Kombat, which helped shape arcades and the fighting genre of games as a whole. Since then, the talents of real-life stunt performers have been involved with games in the series even as recently as Mortal Kombat 11. Video games have fittingly inspired many stunt performers, especially this from generations that grew up on games. Such is the case with a stuntwoman that has replicated the stunts of Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat 11.
While released months ago, a video featuring Gymnast and Martial Artist SofiaStreams recreating the stunts of Sonya Blade from Mortal Kombat 11 has recently resurfaced on social media. Her flexibility and physical prowess have allowed her to recreate stunts from other games and films, but it is quite uncanny how close she faithfully recreates Sonya’s moveset from the new game. This is especially noticed as SofiaStunts filmed her moves from the same side perspective of the 2D fighting franchise. Watching the game footage shortly after her performances is quite incredible. She even finds a way to create new moves for Sonya directly inspired by the types of moves Sonya utilizes.
While this video did fairly well for SofiaStunts months ago, it is especially blown up on Twitter recently, thanks to the help of none other than Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon. The legendary developer shared a clip showcasing SofiaStunts’s Sonya Blade moves and praising her for them. To have the approval of someone so integral to MK 11, and the series as a whole, has got to be a fatality to any sense of low self-esteem she might have, right? We certainly hope SofiaStunts keeps up the good work and takes an attempt at Goro’s moveset next. Good luck growing the extra arms, though.
