A New Silent Hills PT Remake Is Now Available, Now With VR

Silent Hills PT

Many gamers know of the playable teaser from 2015’s cancelled Silent Hills, which was being created by Hideo Kojima and the likes of Guillermo del Toro. That said, ever since it vanished, the Silent Hills PT has found new life through the power of fans and their remakes. Unfortunately, each one that pops up only meets its fate shortly thereafter by the hands of Konami.

However, yet another Silent Hills PT has appeared, but this one is a little different than those that came before it. Named Unreal PT, the new project offers up the playable teaser in a new way. Everything was recreated by the developer, with the whole process taking nine months. In addition to the fresh visuals, the PT also offers up VR support for those looking to get a little more out of the experience. You can check out the short release trailer below:

“Unreal PT was under constant development over the course of 9 months, starting in April 2018 and ending in January 2019,” the developer said in a post on their website. “Textures, models, animations, gameplay, and code have been recreated from scratch (more details on this in the development logs).”

“The gameplay is nearly identical to the original,” they continued. “The biggest difference is the very end of the game has been changed slightly to make beating it more consistent. The controls are explained as the game progresses, but if you get stuck at any point I’ve included two text files in the main directory, one with the controls, the other with a guide on how to beat the game.”

It is also noted that the game will automatically begin in VR if a VR headset is connected to your PC. However, according to the dev, “I’ve been looking through forums, and it looks like VR is completely busted and has multiple issues. You are welcome to try it, but I don’t recommend it.” That is definitely unfortunate to hear. Hopefully they can put a little more time into the VR before Konami shuts them down.

Before then, however, you can check out the full Silent Hills PT remake right here. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
