Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Accolades Trailer Features Emotional Quotes From Players (VIDEO)
Ninja Theory’s latest title, Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has gone where no other game has accurately gone- the human psyche. Furthermore, the game has captured what some with mental health issues such as schizophrenia really go through, both visual and auditory. Despite being self-published, the title is doing quite well among players and critics alike. To show how well the mental health community has received the title, Ninja Theory has released a Senua’s Sacrifice Accolades trailer featuring responses and in-game screenshots from actual players that live with mental health issues.
Most accolades trailers feature critic quotes and ratings from various media sources. Instead, Ninja Theory took a more personal route and decided to feature messages and screenshots from players instead. The excerpts include fans claiming that Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice has helped them show loved ones what it’s like to suffer from mental health issues, and has given them a platform to better explain the troubles they face. There are some quotes from players that now have a better understanding on how severe things like schizophrenia can be. You can watch the emotional Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Accolades trailer below:
Ninja Theory says that they’ve received hundreds of messages like the ones seen in the accolades trailer above. Video games are one of the largest forms of media in today’s world, so the fact that a video game can bring so much awareness to an often overlooked, misunderstood, and serious issue like mental health is incredible. To show how much this means to them, Ninja Theory has announced that on World Mental Health Day (October 10th), any and all sales of Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifce on that day will be donated to charity. Specifically, the Rethink Mental Illness (you can donate through that link) charity.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice is available now on PlayStation 4 and PC (via Steam). Have you played Ninja Theory’s latest title yet? If not, will you be purchasing your copy on World Mental Health Day? What did you think of the Senua’s Sacrifice Accolades trailer? Are there any other games that have moved you on a personal level?
