Santa Monica Studio is Hiring a Senior Multiplayer Programmer for God of War

Santa Monica Studio God of War

Ever since the newest God of War game was announced last year, details have been rather scarce about Kratos’ upcoming romp through Norse mythology, thanks in no small part to a very tight-lipped Santa Monica Studio. The majority of what we know so far has come from the footage shown at the PlayStation 4 exclusive’s reveal at E3 2016. That said, it looks like a job listing on the Santa Monica Studio’s career page is pointing to a potential multiplayer element within the game.

The job listing in question, which can be found here, calls for a ‘Senior Multiplayer Programmer’ to “Join our team behind the critically acclaimed God of War games.” In the description of the job listing, Santa Monica Studio is calling for applicants who want “all players to have the best possible shared experience.” Without jumping to conclusions, it certainly sounds as if multiplayer is coming to God of War, though it is unknown how big of an impact it would have on the single player story, if any.

Though the majority of the God of War games have been single-player only, the PS3 title God of War: Ascension had a few multiplayer modes to choose from, so one coming to the newest title in the series is certainly within the realm of possibility. That said, this is all speculation stemming from a job listing that could technically be for an entirely different IP Santa Monica Studio could be working on, so this should be taken with a grain of salt until more is known.

So, thoughts on the job listing? Would you like to see a multiplayer mode come to God of War?
