Horizon: Zero Dawn Developer Could Make a Return to the Killzone Series

Killzone Series

Until the release of Horizon: Zero Dawn, Guerrilla Games was known for another series under the name Killzone which spanned nearly a decade of gaming and console generations. The third-person, action and adventure of Horizon: Zero Dawn is a huge leap away from Guerrilla Games Killzone series, which was mostly known for being sci-fi, first-person shooters. Could the developers go back to that first series, or will they follow the success of Horizon: Zero Dawn?

Hermen Hulst, the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Guerrilla Games, mentioned in a recent interview that the team may not be done with the Killzone series just yet. When asked whether or not the team would focus on their new IP rather than their roots, Hulst replied.

I get asked that question a lot through Twitter and other social media channels. It’s really heartwarming to hear that there’s such a strong appetite from the loyal Killzone fanbase. It’s a franchise and universe that we still love with a passion at Guerrilla. It hasn’t been easy doing something so completely different. Whether or not we’ve put a permanent period behind the series, it’s too early to make announcements on that. All I can say is that we’ve always loved the Killzone universe and the Killzone series, and we still do. We share that passion for the game with a lot of our fans.”

Hulst’s answer neither confirms nor denies the possibility of a return to the Killzone franchise, however it is good to see that the developers are as passionate about the series as fans are. For now, the team will focus on the the story of Aloy, such as with the upcoming Frozen Wilds DLC. And for the HZD fans out there, a new line of pops were just announced to celebrate the upcoming expansion!
