PUBG Praises Apex Legends Launch, Respawn Entertainment Responds

Free-to-play battle royale title Apex Legends is off to a tremendous start, racking up over a million users in the few days the title has been available for. A game that was made possible thanks in part to the many other battle royale titles that have come before, a nod from a game like PUBG would be rather appropriate for Apex Legends’ stellar launch, and that’s what Respawn Entertainment received thanks to PUBG creator Brendan Greene.

Greene recently posted a tweet through his official PlayerUnknown Twitter account congratulating the Respawn team on a successful launch. Additionally, the renowned creator also gave a special nod to the fact that Apex Legends represents an interesting and unique take on the battle royale game model.

Responding in kind, Respawn replied to Greene’s tweet paying homage to what both PUBG and Brendan Greene have done for the battle royale genre, making for a pretty wholesome exchange between the two developers.

Apex Legends has only been out for a few days, and it has already garnered an impressively large player base. It will be interesting to see what Respawn does with the game in the future, especially given its potential to affect the entire battle royale genre, likely for the better.

Apex Legends is now free-to-play for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
