Project Triangle Strategy Revealed As Octopath Traveler Successor (VIDEO)

Project Triangle Strategy

With so many great announcements during today’s Nintendo Direct, it’s difficult to pick out what announcements and trailers stood above rest. Project Triangle Strategy was definitely among those that shone brightest amongst its peers. Playing with familiar “HD-2D” vibes, it’s easy to see that this new tactical RPG is meant to be a spiritual successor of Octopath Traveler. It offers many of the same experiences that we have grown to love in that title, as fully displayed during its announcement trailer.

This is the latest tactical RPG from Square Enix and from the announcement trailer alone, it looks like they have put a lot of time and resources into bringing the experience to life. The game is destined to have an amazing story that will be riddled with various choices and consequences and will impact the overall picture. According to an official Nintendo description, adventurers will have to put their brainpower behind every battle and interaction with the world around them.

Command a group of warriors as Serenoa, heir to the Kingdom of Glenbrook in a tangled plot where your decisions make all the difference. Key choices you make will bolster one of three convictions—Utility, Morality, Liberty—which together make up Serenoa’s world view and influence how the story will unfold. When faced with truly momentous decisions, multiple characters will weigh in by casting their votes on the Scales of Conviction. In these moments, the allies and decisions you make can determine the fate of whole nations and the continent of Norzelia itself.

Finding the best location in turn-based battles can tip the tide of combat in your favor. Position units on higher ground to take control of the battlefield and gain the advantage with increased range. You can also flank enemies on both sides, then strike from behind for a powerful follow-up attack. Elemental chain reactions are also an important part of combat. For example, use fire to melt icy terrain, then use lightning to electrocute it. Push the enemy into the electrified water to see sparks fly!

Project Triangle Strategy is available now as a demo right through Nintendo, with a full release coming in 2022.
