PlayStation Responds To PS4 Spam Messages Breaking Consoles Issue

It’s a difficult situation to ignore, and it’s a surprise an official response has not been established by Sony and company sooner. Waves of reports circulated all over social media including forum outlets such as Reddit with reports of unassuming messages “bricking” PlayStation 4 consoles, subsequently forcing many owners to factory reset their system. Fellow PS4 users quickly found an alternative until Sony gave the official word to move forward.

Of course, worried owners are looking for answers as an announcement has yet been formally stated to the public. In response to an inquiry from a concerned player, PlayStation UK’s customer service Twitter account said the team is “aware and investigating” the matter. For now, there are a few steps PS4 users can take to quell concerns.

Instead of taking the steep method of a factory reset for your PS4, console owners can delete the message via the PS Message application available on mobile devices. To ensure personal security, make sure to enter Safe Mode to sort out any issues with the console. Here’s how to enter Safe Mode:

  • Turn off the PS4 system by pressing the power button on the front panel. The power indicator will blink for a few moments before turning off.
  • Once the PS4 system is off, press and hold the power button again. Release it after you hear the second beep: one beep will sound when you first press, and another seven seconds later.
  • Connect the DUALSHOCK 4 with the USB cable and press the PS button on the controller.
