PlayStation 5 System Specs Revealed

PlayStation 5 October 2020 release date

Microsoft has already released nearly every detail about the next generation of Xbox, with Sony not exactly disclosing their next system quite yet. However, that has now changed thanks to a recent live stream where lead system architect Mark Cerny took a deep dive into what the PlayStation 5 is capable of.

Cerny took to the live stream to explain the system architecture within the upcoming PlayStation 5, and it is as impressive as one might imagine. According to Cerny, the GPU was one of the major focuses when creating the next generation of PlayStation. In addition to this, developers were requesting an SSD quite a bit, and Sony has definitely delivered. That said, here is what the official PlayStation 5 specs look like:

  • CPU – 8x Zen 2 Cores at 3.5GHz
  • GPU – 10.28 TFLOPs, 36 CUs at 2.23GHz
  • GPU Architecture – Custom AMD RDNA 2
  • Memory – 16GB GDDR6 / 256-bit
  • Memory Bandwith – 448GBs
  • Internal Storage – Custom 825GB SSD
