PlayStation 5 Won’t Launch In The Next 12 Months, Says Sony

PlayStation 5 Games Event PS5

Sony recently dropped some highly-anticipated information about the next generation of the PlayStation console. The reasoning for this was to get ahead of the leaks as well as Microsoft’s E3 2019 showcase, where they will likely have some news about the next Xbox. That said, now that we know a bit about the PlayStation 5, fans are wondering when the console will arrive. According to Sony, not anytime soon.

According to Wall Street Journal’s Takashi Mochizuki, Sony Interactive Entertainment reps have been stating that the PlayStation 5 will not be releasing at any point in the next 12 months. This is surely disappointing for fans, but not entirely unexpected. After all, they only just confirmed some details about the hardware earlier this month.

There are many fans who are hoping this means the PlayStation 5 will be launching in May 2020, but that may not be the case. Given the trend of past PlayStation consoles, it is safe to assume that we will see the PS5 arrive at some point in late 2020, possibly October or November. This, of course, is just speculation. For all we know, 2021 could be the year it arrives.

Either way, the PlayStation 5 is currently in development, and it is already looking to pack quite a punch, including the likes of 8K, backwards compatibility, and some impressive load times. You can read more about it right here. Keep it tuned to Don’t Feed the Gamers as this story develops, and for other gaming goodness going on right now, check out the following:
