First Photos From Live-Action Fullmetal Alchemist Film Released!

live-action Fullmetal Alchemist

Anime and manga fans are typically skeptical when it comes to live-action adaptations of their favorite series. It doesn’t help any when controversy surrounds a film, like with the live-action Ghost in the Shell film. Of course, the controversy surrounding the live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film is on full display in the comments section of the first trailer on YouTube. Why must it be so hard to adapt these wonderful works of art and have it actually please everyone?

In any case, two images have been released from the upcoming live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film, and they are exciting. Everything from the dark tone that the film seems to be going for, down to Edward’s glorious red jacket, the two images definitely bring about some form of excitement. The first image shows the Elric brothers, Edward and Alphonse, as they stand on a train platform, surrounded by the steam and smoke from the train that is on the tracks next to them. Edward, clad in his red jacket, is seen holding a suitcase with his left hand. Left of Edward, we see his younger brother, Alphonse, in that rather large suit of armor, standing tall over his older brother. Check it out for yourselves:

In the second image made available, we can see a familiar scene from the teaser trailer that was released in November 2016. It’s a part that comes near the end of the trailer when Edward is preparing to face an entity created via transmutation circle. Edward definitely looks like he is about to show that beast the business end of his staff. That, or Edward is about to be lunch. You can check the still out below:

The live-action Fullmetal Alchemist film is set to debut in Japan in December 2017. It stars Ryosuke Yamada, Tsubasa Honda, and Dean Fujioka, is being directed by Fumihiko Sori, and is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. The Fullmetal Alchemist film is based off of the popular manga and anime series of the same name. It follows brothers Edward and Alphonse on their journey after an unsuccessful resurrection attempt of their mother claims Edward’s leg and Alphonse’s body, Edward’s sacrifice of his arm in exchange for Alphonse’s soul, and so much more. You should definitely watch the anime or read the manga if you haven’t already.
