Persona 5 Anime Series Reveals Launch Date With New Trailer (VIDEO)

The Persona 5 anime series is inching closer and closer to release. After the surprising announcement made last year, Atlus and team have been hard at work to bring the hit Japanese RPG title to life in a different medium. Though this isn’t the first time Atlus has introduced animated adaptations within their franchise, this is just their latest endeavor to continue increasing their demographic reach.

Given how popular the Shin Megami Tensei franchise is, the more the merrier and fans welcome it. Also, the theme song? Yes. For more information on the Persona 5 anime series coming this Spring, check out the trailer below:

Ren Amamiya is about to enter his second year after transferring to Shujin Academy in Tokyo. Following a particular incident, his Persona awakens, and together with his friends they form the “Phantom Thieves of Hearts” to reform hearts of corrupt adults by stealing the source of their distorted desires. Meanwhile, bizarre and inexplicable crimes have been popping up one after another… Living an ordinary high school life in Tokyo during the day, the group maneuvers the metropolitan city as Phantom Thieves after hours. Let the curtain rise for this grand, picaresque story!”

The first episode of the Persona 5 anime series is set to premiere in Japan in April 2018. It is likely shortly thereafter, English subtitles will air in the West. There’s the possibility of a dubbed version later in the future, but that remains as speculation for now. Even if there has not been an official announcement in that regard, the possibility certainly isn’t out of the question.

The trailer on the other hand does a decent job at setting up the story without giving too much away. For those familiar with Persona 5, the main character Ren Amamiya and his friends are determined to rid the world of the evil plaguing adult hearts. However, unexpected challenges arise and Ren must take on a different persona to rid the world of corruption, oppression, and regain the freedom alongside his companions – Ryuji, Ann, and the trusty Morgana.
