Overwatch: First Strike Graphic Novel Is A No Go
Earlier today on the battle.net forums, lead writer Michael Chu dropped some heavy news regarding the Overwatch: First Strike graphic novel. In the post he states the following:
Bummer! The plan to really start exploring the stories of Overwatch heroes was announced back in March, by giving us Overwatch addicts (I mean, fans… but I digress) more animated shorts and virtual comics, with the aspirations of Overwatch: First Strike. The novel was originally to be written by Micky Neilson and would ultimately follow the story of Reaper, Soldier: 76, Reinhardt and Torbjorn as the Ominc Crisis took place.
Although the graphic novel was cancelled, do not fret. Blizzard has been a company known to listen to the voice of their gamers and we have been so hungry for more behind the heroes we’ve come to love (especially Mei, she is indeed bae). Chu made it a point to let us know that there is still more stories in development, and they will indeed “delve deeper into the world and it’s heroes.”
All is not lost. Blizzard definitely is known to bounce back, it’s how we got Overwatch in the first place. It’s what I’d like to call a Bob Ross (a happy little mistake), especially since Overwatch was a result of the failed attempt at another MMO by the name of Titan. We here at DFTG look forward to what Blizzard and their fantastic team brings us next! Sound off with your thoughts below!
