Outriders Revealed By Square Enix At E3 2019 (VIDEO)

Today, fans of the shooters video game genre got a huge treat with the reveal of People Can Fly’s latest game, Outriders. The studio is known for old school style shooters like Bulletstorm. While those games carried with them a certain juvenile sense of humor, it looks like Outriders might be going for a more serious tone as evidenced by the trailer here:

While there isn’t much gameplay to see here, there’s a little bit to go off of that gives us an idea of the kind of game Outriders is going for. It looks like we’ll be facing some huge enemies in a post-apocalyptic environment. It also seems like there may be some kind of special abilities and powers aspect to the game, as the lighting hands in the thumbnail and fire-throwing in the video show.

We didn’t just get that little tease though! Representatives from People Can Fly showed off a Developer’s Diary vignette of various team members discussing the creation of Outriders. Creative director Bartosz Kmita says the game is a “dark, modern shooter” that’s drawn from various titles from the history of People Can Fly. Check out more here:

Again, not much gameplay shown. However, a peek at the various developer monitors give us just enough insight on the user interface and style. It looks like players will be controlling the characters from a third person perspective, monsters of various sizes will be the primary enemies encountered, and areas will span from deserts to lush forests.

Does Outriders look like something fresh and interesting? How do you feel about the studio breaking away from First Person perspectives to deliver a much more dramatic Multiplayer experience in third person?
