Marvel’s Avengers Revealed At E3 2019 (VIDEO)

Marvel's Avengers

Excelsior! Marvel fans may have gotten the biggest movie blockbuster of the year already when Avengers: Endgame came out, but now it looks like we’ll be getting a blockbuster video game in Marvel’s Avengers. Crystal Dynamics, mostly known for its modern Tomb Raider trilogy, has been working a while at getting this new superhero game just right. And it looks way better than just right. Check out what was shown off at Square Enix’s E3 2019 showcase below:

The trailer here showed off Black Widow, Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Thor all teaming up to get back together after failing to save San Francisco from a horrible atrocity. We saw a pretty haggard-looking Tony Stark who seemed to be taking their loss pretty badly, as well as a grave dedicated to Captain America. Check out a synopsis from Marvel below:

Marvel’s Avengers begins at A-Day, where Captain America, Iron Man, the Hulk, Black Widow, and Thor are unveiling a hi-tech Avengers Headquarters in San Francisco — including the reveal of their own helicarrier powered by an experimental energy source. The celebration turns deadly when a catastrophic accident results in massive devastation. Blamed for the tragedy, the Avengers disband. Five years later, with all Super Heroes outlawed and the world in peril, the only hope is to reassemble Earth’s Mightiest Heroes.”

We first heard about the game when it was announced in January 2017. It featured gear from various Avengers characters in rough shape. We saw Thor’s hammer lying in a heap of rubble, and a stripped down Iron Man Gauntlet failing to hold a charge. A narrator spoke of the time of heroes being over and the need to reassemble. Maybe the player is taking the role of a hero looking to get the gang back together to kick some bad guy butt, or maybe this is just a little flavor to set the stage of a story that brings the Avengers to their breaking point.

We’re sure to find out what epic journey lies ahead of us when Marvel’s Avengers releases May 15th, 2020 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. Pre-orders are available now. The Endgame may have come and gone, but the Avengers‘s story is just beginning! Are you excited to see a huge AAA level Avengers game on your console in 2019?
