Origin Access and EA Access Merge To Become EA Play

EA Play

Well, Origin Access and EA Access will be no longer come August 18th of this year. That means in just a few short days both of those subscription game services will merge to become something new. That something new, you ask? It’s called EA play. You may have heard of it from the annual live events hosted by EA prior. EA had announced the service will get a complete over hall and make over, though one can only speculate as to what that look will be. There will be two tiers to the service. EA Play Pro will become the new Origin Access Premier and EA Play will become the new Origin Access Basic.

Outside of a new name and some new graphics, not much will change to the service provided by EA Play. It will still offer different game titles, offer early access to upcoming content as well as giving subscribers a 10% discount. EA Play also promises more content in the coming months which will include in-game challenge and monthly rewards for subscribers on certain titles.

Electronic Arts is well known for games such as The Sims, Madden, FIFA, and other sports related games, the popular battle royale Apex Legends. EA is the parent company for Respawn Entertainment as well as a few other companies such as PopCap Games and BioWare. EA was initially founded in 1982 (making them a millennial) by Trip Hawkins, and have only gained popularity since it’s first game release of Archon: The Light and the Dark in 1937.
