“Go Beyond Pen and Paper” with Official Dungeons & Dragons Companion App (VIDEO)

Dungeons & Dragons Beyond

Dungeons & Dragons is arguably the most popular tabletop RPG of all time. This pen and paper, dice based system of play has been entertaining players for decades and has been around longer than some of its fans. With players having to rely on third-party products or simple pen and paper to keep track of their adventures, the demand for a digital app has been pretty high. Fans can now breathe an “about damn time” sigh of relief as Wizards of the Coast have announced Dungeons & Dragons Beyond, a digital companion application that will bring the D&D universe to one easy to navigate place.

Dungeons & Dragons Beyond will be the official management tool for the RPG. The digital app will allow players to keep track of their characters, levels, inventory, rules, spells and more. Curse, the Twitch owned company that specializes in multi-platform management tools, will be designing the application for Wizards of the Coast. Check out their announcement trailer below!

Dungeons & Dragons Beyond will feature a comprehensive list of 5th edition features. Fans can expect to “go beyond pen and paper” with access to in-depth listings, character building on an interactive sheet, and official access to all of the 5e goodies now available. This the app will allow users to create content and share it with other users, making it simple for GM’s to share custom rules and other details of the game with players. This app would also eliminate the tiring search for items or spells. With a simple search in the application detailed information is at the users fingertips, leaving more time for players on the table and less in the books.

Dungeons & Dragons Beyond is looking to be an incredibly powerful and useful tool for those who would like to make their role-playing experience easier. It is currently unknown what the application will cost if anything, but it can be expected sometime this summer and it looks as if it will be available for all devices. They are currently accepting subscriptions for their beta testing that you can sign up for here!
