Nintendo Switch August Sales in the US Beats Out PlayStation 4 and Xbox One

The Nintendo Switch has been going strong since its March 3 release and it certainly doesn’t seem like it will be losing steam anytime soon. As of late, it feels like Nintendo simply hasn’t been able to keep up with production, but that’s only because the console has been selling like crazy. After outselling both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in March, April, and July, it would appear that the Switch August sales in the US have continued that trend.

The NPD Group has released their sales data for August and the Nintendo Switch remains king in US console sales. Four out of the past six months have shown the portable system on top, only being bested by Sony’s PS4 in May and June. According to NPD, the PlayStation 4 still reigns supreme in year-to-date US sales, but if the Switch keep selling the way it has been, there could be a new top dog any month now.

As for the video game side of things, EA’s Madden 18 was the best selling title in August, pushing it ahead of Grand Theft Auto V(2), Uncharted: The Lost Legacy(3), Splatoon 2(4), and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild(5). While Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands came in as the 12th best selling game in August, it remains atop the year-to-date sales chart.
