Nintendo may not have brought many announcements to the recent Game Awards ceremony, but it looks like the publisher’s wide variety of smaller releases will very much do just fine in the meantime. A total of 19 upcoming indie titles were unveiled as part of a new Nintendo Indie World presentation, highlighting new release dates and introducing fresh projects to the Switch for the first time, some of which debuted shortly after the event concluded.

Kicking off the Nintendo Indie World presentation was Sea of Stars, an old-school turn-based RPG from Sabotage Studio sporting gorgeous modern pixel visuals and hitting the Switch in Holiday 2022. Underscore’s ‘Aliisha – The Oblivion of Two Godesses’ was next unveiled as a very Zelda-like co-op puzzle-adventure with a dual-play mechanic reminiscent of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. It’s set to be released as a console exclusive in Spring 2022.

Moving along, Indie World confirmed train-oriented murder mystery Loco Motive for a Summer 2022 release, in addition to AfterLove EP, a hybrid visual novel/rhythm title chronicling “love, loss, and music.” Musical sword-and-sorcery Figment 2 was given an additional spotlight with Herobeat’s post-apocalyptic mother Fox tale, Endling. Not just newbies, the event also saw debut footage for battling side-scroller River City Girls 2, an awaited release date for OlliOlli World (February 8th), and the reveal that acclaimed psyche-diving RPG Omori was coming to Switch.

While hype was certainly in the air about these upcoming titles, the Nintendo Indie World showcase also confirmed a select few would release on the same day as being announced. Four in all were confirmed for an instant debut, including the impeccably-named enemy-eater Dungeon Munchies, digital board game compilation Let’s Play! Oink Games, paint-oriented puzzler Chicory: A Colorful Tale, and time-bending stealth adventure Timelie.

In addition to the games mentioned above, the Nintendo Indie World showcase also brought several other games to prominence as part of a short montage. Among the titles featured, highlights included DONTNOD’s WW2-era narrative RPG Gerda: A Flame in Winter (2022), ability-absorbing action title GRIME (Summer 2022), artistic interactive narrative Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery (Spring 2022), dinosaur theme park builder Parkasaurus (Sping 2022), and co-op party infant sim Baby Storm (January 21st, 2022).
