Next Battlefield Game To Arrive In 2021, Confirms DICE

DICE recently revealed that they would be releasing one last content update for Battlefield V before handing the reins over to players with their Community Games program. The Star Wars Battlefront II team has also revealed that they would be following suit, after releasing their latest content update called the Battle on Scarif. As for what comes next, it seems the developers are going to be spending their time focusing on the next generation of the Battlefield franchise.

An EA spokesperson recently revealed that though the studio is winding down on both Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront II, they still plan on bringing new content for players to enjoy. Both games will continue to be supported with in-game challenges, servers, and events for as long as players are there to help keep them alive. The studio’s focus, however, will turn to the next iteration in the Battlefield franchise, and will presumably find it’s way into player’s hands sometime in 2021.

While the studio’s vision for Star Wars Battlefront II is now complete with this week’s The Battle on Scarif Update, the servers, in-game challenges, recurring events and game support will continue as the game lives on with players and the community. We’re looking forward to hearing players’ stories for both games, for years to come. Longer term, the studio is focused on the future of Battlefield that we’ll be bringing to players in 2021.”

There was no mention as to what the company has planned at this time, however, with the massive amounts of growth both Battlefield V and Star Wars Battlefront have had over the years the future looks quite bright for whatever EA can come up with. What are you hoping to see next from the developer and the Battlefield franchise? Are there any other major points in history you’d like to see get made into a game?
