New ReCore News Teased – Hints at Reportedly Leaked ‘Definitive Edition’

ReCore News Teased, Hints at Reportedly Leaked 'Definitive Edition'

Earlier this week, an apparent leak occurred, revealing an updated and upgraded version of last year’s action platformer ReCore, dubbed the “Definitive Edition”. While the game earned a decidedly mixed reception among gamers, it was reported that publisher Microsoft is ready to give ReCore another chance with a newly remastered presentation, HDR support, and additional game content. All of this is supposed to arrive on August 29 in retail and digital forms.

These claims have begun to seem much more credible, as developers have teased an imminent announcement for the date of August 20, promising to reveal “what’s next” for ReCore in the near future. The timing lines up perfectly with the start of Microsoft’s upcoming press event at Gamescom 2017, which means it’s more than likely the announcement will be more substantial than not.

From longtime Mega Man producer Keiji Inafune, the original ReCore hit last September and has since been added to Microsoft’s Xbox Play Anywhere program. While the announcement of the rumored Definitive Edition does seem to be a likely scenario, especially given the timing, any of the supposed leaks still have yet to be confirmed by official sources. If true, perhaps developers Comcept and Armature Studio will take the opportunity to address the initial problems critics had with their game. All is set to be revealed this Sunday at Gamescom 2017.

What do you think? Are the leaks correct and ReCore is getting a Definitive Edition, or is a ReCore 2 on the horizon instead? Let us know in the comments below, and be sure to follow DFTG on the Twitter for more of the latest gaming news from around the web 24 hours a day!
