New Power Rangers Movie Images Featuring Rita Repulsa

With its release only a few months away marketing for the Powers Rangers reboot is kicking into high gear as we approach the new year. The latest hype comes from the film’s official Facebook  and Twitter with the reveal of two brand new images of the movie’s villain Rita Repulsa. The images were released as part of the social media “#RITAREPULSATAKEOVER” which featured a new claw-torn profile picture as well as a banner featuring none other than the queen of mean herself holding an updated version of her iconic ornate staff.

Over the years the staff wielding alien witch bent on the domination of earth has been  portrayed/voiced by several different actresses during the course of the TV show with her first being introduced in the original series in the episode “Day of The Dumpster and her last appearance being in 2006’s Power Rangers Mystic Force. Elizabeth Banks takes on the role for the big screen in this newest incarnation of wicked antagonist with a drastically different but very aesthetically pleasing take on the character. Fan’s have been divided on the the overall look of the rangers themselves however, we have to admit that Rita looks pretty badass from what’s been shown so far. Check out the new images in the gallery below.

If this new reboot does well we could see as many as 6 more follow it if Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has his way. The film executive expressed his enthusiasm for creating a new cinematic franchise earlier this year during a conference call that focused on earnings report for investors. “We are really, really excited about the ‘Power Rangers’ movie. We could see doing five or six or seven.” said Feltheimer. It appears that a lot is riding on how well this Mighty Morphin reboot does at the box office. Along with Banks Saban’s Power Rangers stars Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, Ludi Lin, Naomi Scott, RJ Cyler, Bill Hader, and Bryan Cranston. The film hits theaters March 24, 2017 with Dean Israelite directing.
