New Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance Gameplay Revealed (VIDEO)

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance

For months, Wizards of the Coast have been sitting on a wealth of upcoming video game projects set in the many realms of Dungeons & Dragons, with Baldur’s Gate 3 currently in a spell of Early Access, an open-world RPG in the works, as well as a handful of other unannounced projects on deck for the popular fantasy franchise. Having announced the game last year, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance has now been revealed as the next leap from tabletop to screen, with the action-RPG now set to release on June 22nd.

The big release date announcement rolled out alongside a stunning gameplay trailer (seen above), highlighting the game’s action-heavy multiplayer combat, the heft of challenging creature battles, as well as the hard-rock musical might of one Ozzy Osbourne. As per the PlayStation Blog, Dark Alliance will see players utilize the classic D&D roles of Drizzt, Cattie-brie, Bruenor, and Wulfgar, with each offering up to 50 combat abilities in the party’s epic quest to find the immensely-powerful magical artifact, the Crystal Shard.

If revealing this epic adventure through Icewind Dale wasn’t enough, an extended piece of gameplay was also showcased by the team over at Game Informer. As seen below, the 11-minute-plus footage gives fans a much more extended look at what to expect from the Tuque Games-developed title, with the duration featuring the two-person squad of Drizzt and Cattie-brie taking down a stage full of vicious goblin enemies.

Taking clear inspiration from the old Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance from back in the day, Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance looks to be taking that torch and running with it into modern times. Differing from the classic Dark Alliance, the new game not only takes advantage of some very appealing visuals but also online multiplayer modes in addition to traditional couch co-op. With the game’s release happening this June, it’s likely we’ll see more of the game revealed over the next few months.

Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance releases for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S on June 22nd.
