Jade Raymond’s New Studio Is Working On A PlayStation-Exclusive IP

As Google Stadia recently dissolved its first-party video game efforts, the decision saw the departure of Jade Raymond, leaving many to wonder where the executive’s considerable talent may end up next. However, a new post on the PlayStation Blog has provided the answer in the form of a new independent development studio called Haven Entertainment Studios. Based in Montreal, Raymond revealed her inspiration to start the new studio was to “create worlds where players can escape, have fun, express themselves, and find community.”

As I took stock of my career over the last few years and started to think about what to do next, I came to a very simple conclusion: I need to get back to what I love doing most, and do so in a way that gives our team the freedom to explore, inspire, and create.”

In addition to setting up Haven Studios, Raymond also announced the new collective is being backed by Sony Interactive Entertainment with the team currently at work on an all-new Sony-exclusive IP. “We believe in the power of games to bring joy to people’s lives. And Sony does, too,” Raymond continued. “Their commitment to excellence is unmatched. It’s why I couldn’t be happier for their backing and support.”

Besides the tease for “more” information to come, nothing is known about what Haven Studios may have cooking for its debut. Even with that said, the possibilities are almost definitely exciting considering Jade Raymond’s experience acting as producer and managing director of several prominent Ubisoft franchises, namely the Assassin’s Creed series. Sony’s first-party track record is also worth noting as the PlayStation brand is well-known for its output of unique and groundbreaking experiences like God of War and The Last of Us.
