N64-Inspired Retro Nike Sneakers Revealed By Nintendo
It looks like the Nintendo 64 is make a comeback in an unexpected way! Nintendo is no stranger to creating wearable novelty items based on their consoles and properties, especially when they partnered up with shoe manufacturer Vans to launch a line of sneakers inspired by their various franchises. In their latest collaboration with Nike, the companies take gamers on a walk down nostalgia lane with a pair of retro Air Max 97s inspired by the N64.
Although not officially confirmed by either Nike or Nintendo, Forbes is under the impression these will make its debut later this year. If reports stand true, it looks like the Air Max 97s inspired by the N64 console set is set to launch this September. With a solid grey exterior accented by colors of green, blue, and red, the shoes also feature quite a few nods to the system and controller. On the tongue of the sneakers are “Power” and “Reset” and an insole with a design that resembles an ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) logo. Check out the images below:
Despite the lack of an official announcement, sources say these are going to release soon. They’ll most likely launch sometime next month or close to the 23rd anniversary of the N64.
