Mortal Kombat Fatality Figures Pitched By Todd McFarlane (VIDEO)
With the release of Mortal Kombat 11, this year has seen a big amount of love for the classic fighting game series. Although the game released this past April, it is still being talked about thanks to its presence in the fighting game circuit and the release of new DLC characters. One such character coming soon is Spawn, the dark 90s comic book hero created by the legendary Todd McFarlane. The comic book mogul is also well known for his highly detailed toys, and now McFarlane has his hopes to make a line of Mortal Kombat Fatality figures.
McFarlane recently spoke to IGN at San Diego Comic Con about all of his upcoming creative endeavors. One such big outlet is his new line of Mortal Kombat figures, which has made some wonder if McFarlane might consider making Mortal Kombat fatality figures. McFarlane acknowledges that he has received many requests for such figures, and he believes he knows how it would work.
You try to catch this moment, a frozen moment. So could you give them instead of some accessory like a sword or whatever, some prop. You give them that — their heads being split, with blood going, and buy one and the other one, [and] the guy could be coming down and doing a fatality kill.”
However, it would be some time before McFarlane would be given the greenlight by MK developer NetherRealm and publisher Warner Bros to make these figures. McFarlane says that his plan is to earn the trust of these parties with these first waves of Mortal Kombat figures, and then keep requesting the opportunity to make fatality figures afterwards. As he put it he will “just act like a little eight-year-old boy and say, ‘Can I do it, can I do it?’ until they either say yes, or you wear them out.” Hopefully WB and NetherRealm allow McFarlane to make these figures, so that our inner eight-year-olds can all have these wonderfully violent and scarring toys.
