Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn DLC Discussed By Todd McFarlane (VIDEO)
The slow drip-feed of info on Mortal Kombat 11’s first fighters pack continues as fans grow more and more excited to learn when we’ll get our first chance to play as Nightwolf, Sindel, and Spawn. WB has shared some glimpses of MK veterans Nightwolf and Sindel on their Twitter page, but we haven’t seen any in-engine footage of everyone’s favorite Hellspawn. Until then, we do have some encouraging observations from Todd McFarlane, the creator of Spawn, about his character’s presence in the bloody fighter. McFarlane spoke to IGN to share his excitement in the video below:
McFarlane sure seems pleased with the work NetherRealm has done to bring Spawn to life in Mortal Kombat 11! This wouldn’t be the first time Spawn has guest starred in a major fighting game franchise, as many will recall his inclusion in the Xbox version of Soul Calibur II. However, his character might be a bit more of a cohesive fit in a blood and gore fest like Mortal Kombat. The Spawn comic book series is known for depicting brutal violence and mature themes, making it a pretty seamless transition for an outsider character. McFarlane wanting to appeal more to Mortal Kombat fans rather than Spawn fans makes sense, as his appearance in the game could inspire fans to check out the comics for the first time. However, he does point out that Netherrealm Studios is full of huge Spawn fans, and as such the character will have attacks that reference specific events in the series. Either way, it sounds like both new and hardcore fans alike will appreciate this new character!
