Mortal Kombat 11 Shaggy Petition Goes Viral

Mortal Kombat 11 Shaggy

The excitement for Mortal Kombat 11 continues to build, with more and more character reveals and juicy details about the game making themselves known. This excitement led to numerous recent fan creations and art, including one piece depicting actor Terry Crews as Jax.

While these festivities arose however, another celebration simultaneously occurred on the web in the terrifying corner of meme culture. An odd fixation of Scooby Doo’s Shaggy has led many to view the comical character as something of an all-powerful demigod. Now, these two recent internet subjects have merged with a new Mortal Kombat 11 petition that seeks to add the character to the game.

For those unaware, this month has seen a focus on Shaggy from Scooby-Doo as a meme seemingly viewing him as an ironic formidable figure. These memes use portrayals of Shaggy from his various appearances, including his live action appearance by actor Matthew Lillard in the 2000s’ Scooby Doo films. Some of these memes also depict Shaggy as a competent fighter fit for a franchise like Dragon Ball Z, or even Mortal Kombat.

So, naturally, the internet rallied to put Shaggy’s might against worthy foes with what will likely be the most anticipated fighting game of 2019, Mortal Kombat 11. The petition, hosted at Change.org, has amassed just a few thousand signature stories shy of 100,000. The goal is 150,000 signatures, but the meme only seems to be spreading, so the goal could be reached.

Granted, MK 11 is pretty far into production, and it is probably unlikely for Shaggy to be placed in the game before launch. However, Warner Bros. is publishing the game, and they also own The Scooby Doo IP, so it wouldn’t be impossible for the always hungry Shaggy to feast on Scorpion’s flesh. If this did actually happen, many would say Zoinks, indeed.
