Mortal Kombat 11 has gotten plenty of publicity these past few weeks thanks in no small part to digital artist Bosslogic. The content creator has been churning out artwork that depicts famous actors as Mortal Kombat characters, the most recent of which has been Vin Diesel as Baraka. Now, on the more official side of things, developer NetherRealm Studios has announced that veteran character Kano will be the latest returning fighter to the roster.

The news comes by way of the official Mortal Kombat 11 Twitter account, which made the announcement alongside the simple caption “Greed personified.” The accompanying picture sports a more modern take on the character, which can be seen below:

If that isn’t enough, one of the comments in the reveal thread showed off a pirate-y version of Kano, complete with a captain’s hat. This is likely a simple outfit option for the fighter, though according to the poster it is an exclusive skin for Brazil.

The Kano reveal marks the ninth revealed fighter for Mortal Kombat 11, with more to be announced over the next few weeks alongside a “Huge, huge surprise” according to the game director. What this means is anyone’s guess, though many have begun to speculate that a well-known celebrity will be taking up the mantle as one of the characters, not unlike what Ronda Rousey is doing with Sonya Blade.

Mortal Kombat 11 drops for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on April 23, 2019.
