Mortal Kombat 11 Official Cover Art Revealed

Mortal Kombat 11 Official Cover Art Revealed

After setting 2017 ablaze with Injustice 2, famed fighting game developer NetherRealm Studio took a year off to focus on their next AAA project. As revealed at last month’s The Game Awards, Mortal Kombat 11 is now on tap for a debut in 2019 and the series’ signature brutal battles look to be even more gloriously gruesome than ever.

Head honcho ever at NetherRealm Ed Boon has taken a break from playfully trolling fans to unveil the official cover art for the forthcoming title. Revealed on social media, the image depicts the spear-happy ninja character Scorpion descending on unlucky foe, featuring the iconic Mortal Kombat logo just behind all the action.

It’s not surprising to see the yellow devil Scorpion headline Mortal Kombat 11, especially as the character had already been confirmed (in more than one capacity) as part of the game’s extremely bloody reveal trailer. What may have been a surprise to fans was the sincerity of the reveal itself, as Boon is often one to share humorous fake images over Twitter. However, he made sure to clarify this wasn’t the case (this time).

This colorful unveiling happens just a week away from an official reveal event scheduled for next January 17th, where a large amount of the mystery behind Mortal Kombat 11 will be uncovered. On the other hand, what we do know about the game is largely based on supposed leaks, where details about the game’s Premium Edition and roster have potentially been revealed. Whether or not these revealed are factual remains to be seen, but all may be revealed in under a week’s time.

Mortal Kombat 11 will release for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on April 23rd.
