Fans of Konami’s action-adventure Metal Gear Solid (MSG) may have to wait a while before getting another entry into the franchise, if at all. Developer Humble Hearts also have a yearning for that sweet, sweet espionage gaming, so that’s why they’ve just announced their latest title that should appeal to MGS fans…sort of. Their latest game, Never Stop Sneakin’, is a parody of the Metal Gear games, and it’s heading to the Nintendo Switch.

Humble Hearts is responsible for Dust: An Elysian Tale, an action role-playing game. The latest project will take the basic premise of the MGS games and add a fair amount of ridiculous, slap-stick comedy to the mix. The plot of Never Stop Sneakin’ starts with the antagonist of the title – a madman by the name of Amadeus Guildenstern – who has traveled in time to kidnap every single President in US history. Players will be tasked with restoring the timeline to its rightful course by infiltrating Guildenstern’s base. Players will have to avoid patrols and hack into the enemy computer systems to gather important intel. You can check out the official trailer below:

As can be seen in the above trailer, Never Stop Sneakin’ contains quite a few nods to the Metal Gear Solid franchise. These even include some graphical choices that set characters and objects in a polygonal world. The top-down angle of the camera is reminiscent of the original games, and the title even features a remixed version of the infamous Snake Eater theme song. In a series of tweets, Dean Dodrill of Humble Hearts says:

I had several goals I wanted to accomplish with my sophomore effort as a game developer. I wanted to try something in a completely different aesthetic, and go fully-polygonal in the process. I wanted to create something procedural and infinitely re-playable, and design engaging combat with the simplest controls possible. I think I’ve accomplished these things, and it’s been a thrill to create something completely different from Dust: An Elysian Tail.”

No official release date has been set, but Humble Hearts’ Never Stop Sneakin’ is scheduled to release some time during the holiday season of 2017 on Nintendo Switch.
