Mass Effect: Andromeda Allows You to Customize Both Ryder Twins

Mass Effect: Andromeda - Ryder Twins

In just ten days, players will be allowed to explore to their heart’s content in Mass Effect: Andromeda. Those with EA/Origin Access only have to wait half that time for their 10-hour free trial of the highly anticipated title. With the launch of the game in sight, more and more details have begun to emerge. The newest bit of information has come in the form of a tweet from Andromeda lead designer Ian S. Frazier, and it pertains to the customization of the Ryder twins.

On Twitter, user @JozefEntwistle asked, “can we customise both twins before picking which one to play as or do we pick gender first?” To this, Frazier replied, “You pick your twin first, but can change your mind later if you want. Up until you click START GAME, fiddle away.” While the customization options for the Ryder twins may not be the most stellar news coming out of BioWare, it does imply a couple of things that might be coming to the title, one of which being the ability to create your protagonists before the story begins. This, of course, is not a new concept, but it may be more akin to the character creation process in Fallout 4.

For those unfamiliar, Fallout 4 allows you to spend hours on end fine tuning every detail of the game’s protagonist. It has you to do this alongside your spouse, but you can only do it before the game actually begins. Once the narrative has begun, however, you are no longer able to change the way your character looks. With Frazier’s tweet, it may be safe to assume that this could very well be the case for Mass Effect: Andromeda. If so, prepare to spend a good portion of March 21, when the game is officially launched on PC, PS4, and Xbox One, customizing the Ryder twins.
