League Of Legends RPG Ruined King Coming In 2021, New Trailer Revealed (VIDEO)

League Of Legends RPG Ruined King

Riot Games’ MOBA title League of Legends has enjoyed immense success since first launching in 2009, having established itself as a huge esports draw and leading to quite a few spin-off projects on the horizon. Announced at last year’s The Game Awards, a new League of Legends RPG was formally revealed in the form of Ruined King, a single-player experience from Darksiders Genesis studio Airship Syndicate touting a decidedly dark atmosphere. During today’s LoL World Championship finals, Riot has now unveiled more information about the upcoming spin-off alongside a spectacular new trailer.

Reveal in a new press release, Ruined King: A League of Legends Story is set to release in Early 2021 for both consoles and PC. Specifically, the League of Legends RPG is planned to launch for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, as well as PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store, with next-gen versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S arriving “soon thereafter” as free upgrades for PS4 and Xbox One as well as standalone releases. Seen below, the game’s new announcement trailer depicts various champions – Miss Fortune, Illaoi, Braum, Yasuo, Ahri, and Pyke – assembling in spectacular fashion as they set sail into the dangerous and mysterious locale of the Shadow Isles.

While this new trailer doesn’t show any gameplay, the idea of a single-player League of Legends RPG is nonetheless a very exciting one. The magical realm of Runeterra has grown to be pretty expansive over the years with genre-crossing spin-offs and alternative realities already part of the official LoL canon. Ruined King is only just one such project in the works from Riot, with a time-bending platformer, a 2.5D-style fighting game, various musical acts, as well as an animated series also at varying stages of development.
