Kingdom Hearts III “League Of Its Own,” More Surprises On The Way

With every bit of Kingdom Hearts III news we get, fans all over are finally beginning to shake that wavering doubt as to whether we will ever get to see Sora and the gang again. With the trailer released last month about Monsters Inc and Tangled joining the game, we’ve got a studio update from Tetsuya Nomura himself and it’s guaranteed to get anxious players pumped.

The background, among the ten* worlds and other things that were being worked on, are divided into three major areas: the beginning locations, mid-level locations, and the final locations. In the beginning locations, Monsters, Inc. and Toy Story are included, and are about 90% completed. Mid-level locations, including Tangled, are about 60 to 70% finished. The background team is probably the largest in Square Enix, and, in addition to the Osaka and Tokyo teams, there are orders being carried out by outsourced foreign company employees.”

Though we’ve already known that the first part was nearly complete, and that the second part was well on it’s way, it’s nice to see the continued progress. Nomura-san also added that there are plenty more surprises to come, including his favorite world that has yet to be announced, “This Kingdom Hearts is a bit different,” Nomura stated. “One world is equivalent to one [previous] game, and the things to do for each other are vastly different. My favorite world has not yet been announced, so please look forward to it.”

The game itself is currently in development still with no set release date at this time. We can expect to see something a little more definitive with E3 this year, and perhaps even a look at the mysterious world he’s so excited about!
