Kill La Kill The Game: IF Story Mode Details Revealed

Arc System Works’ upcoming title Kill La Kill The Game: IF represents an extremely exciting prospect for fans of the original anime that have been waiting for a chance to step back into the dangerously fashion-based world. Announced earlier this year, the developer revealed that the story mode would certainly live up to the ‘IF’ subtitle, and would feature an original story from the anime writer in a “what if” scenario. Now, we’ve a few more details about what can expect from the story mode, along with a few challenge mode details as well.

Revealed by the folks over at Gematsu, the story in Kill La Kill the Game: IF will put players into the shoes of Satsuki Kiryuuin, the anime’s central protagonist during the first the first half of the show. The story is set to follow the anime beginning form episode eight, written by writer Kazuki Nakashima. According to the developer, “At the end of the First Naturals Election, the one that appeared before Satsuki was Ragyou, not Nui!? Why did Ragyou appear? What is this series of inexplicable events?”

In related news, there will also be a set of COVERS challenges in a “one-versus-many” type of mode, which will feature RPG-like elements as players progress and defeat their opponents. Here’s the breakdown of the three revealed modes:

  • One-Minute Challenge: Defeat the highest possible amount of enemies in one minute. It is vital to obtain the “Time Extension Item” only dropped by enemies in this challenge to extend your time while fighting.
  • 100-Man Challenge: A time-attack challenge to defeat 100 enemies in the fastest possible time.
  • Endless Battle: Keep fighting enemies until your HP is fully depleted.

Kill La Kill The Game: IF is expected to arrive on PC, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch at some point in 2019.
