Jump Force Introduces Original Characters, Custom Fighter Feature (VIDEO)
Jump Force is bringing together the most popular manga characters from Shonen Jump for the crossover event of a lifetime. This has become supremely evident in the addition of heavy-hitters from Dragon Ball, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and the recent advent of Yu Yu Hakusho to the mix. However, the game’s story mode has been revealed to also feature a batch of completely original characters created by none other than manga legend Akira Toriyama.
Revealed in a new trailer, the four-character lineup was revealed for the Jump Force campaign, all of which designed by the Dragon Ball series’ famed creator. The first of the bunch is Director Glover, head of the hero-collecting J-Force and a character clearly influenced by Marvel’s Nick Fury. The remaining include a helpful battle droid called Navigator, a spear-wielding warrior named Galena, and an armored renegade by the name of Kane. Check them all out in the video below.
Of course, the four above won’t be the only fighters made specifically for the game, as Jump Force has also confirmed the addition of a custom character feature. In crafting their own avatar, players will be able to take advantage of assets from their favorite manga characters, with Luffy’s attire from One Piece being specifically confirmed in the released screenshot below.
Costumes covering other series such as Hunter x Hunter or Bleach have yet to be announced for this feature, but it’d be unlikely for any of Jump Force’s franchises to be excluded from customization. We’ll likely see custom characters fully laid out before Jump Force is scheduled to hit PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One in February 2019.
