Not too long ago, developer NetherRealm Studios announced that a new mystery character from the DC fighter Injustice 2 would be revealed this past Tuesday. The date of February 7th came and went without any such reveal. Fans everywhere were left to wonder who the new fighter would be. In a post on the studio’s Twitter account, the new character release date was rescheduled to February 13th, this coming Monday.

Though NetherRealm hasn’t’ given a reason for the delayed announcement, it can most likely be chalked up to technical difficulties. It’s no secret that video games are really hard to make. Because of that, it’s doubtful that a large studio could’ve actually just forgotten to do post something that huge, but it’s not completely out of the ordinary. Currently on the official website, the yet unannounced mystery fighter has been represented by an image of a generic faceless wireframe mannequin, as with the game’s previous reveals.

The last major character addition to Injustice 2 was the DC hero Black Canary. Her corresponding gameplay trailer shows off the agile vigilante’s technical fighting abilities as well as her signature “Canary Cry” scream. Before that, big-time villains Bane, Poison Ivy, and Brainiac were also revealed to be present in the game. With just under twenty characters left to be formally revealed and only a few months left until Injustice 2’s launch, it should be an interesting next few weeks in terms of who’s seen next. The game will release on Android, iOS devices, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on May 16, 2017.
