For Honor: The New IP by Ubisoft That Makes PvP Positively Medieval

For Honor

Ubisoft has quite the reputation for being creators of excellent games bringing us titles such as Assassin’s Creed, Far Cry, and the Tom Clancy games. At E3 of 2015 Ubisoft gave us a peek at an all new IP that may just be a game changer for player versus player (PvP) combat. For Honor, an all new 3rd person medieval melee combat game, was brought up again at E3 this year through the release of an epic new cinematic trailer.

The world of For Honor is harsh, yet filled with beautiful wildlands, grandiose landmarks, and majestic ruins. Its hardy inhabitants eke a living as they can in spite of living in a state of near perpetual war. A cataclysm struck a millenium ago, nearly destroying all civilizations. Homelands were sundered, empires burned, and whole nations exiled themselves. From the ashes of this catastrophe, the Knights, Vikings, and Samurai rose again. They struggled to rebuild their nations, trying to recapture the glory of their ancestors.

For those of us who are lovers of the medieval/fantasy genre, this looks absolutely epic! For Honor brings us the adrenaline fueled rush of PvP combat to the brutal setting of medieval melee warfare. Although it does seem like a huge focus of this game is going to be the many varieties of dynamic PvP game play, the game will have a single player campaign as well.

Conquer foes alone or with friends engaging in single-player, offline campaign and thrilling online multiplayer. For Honor features several exciting game modes that pit players against one another, such as: 4v4 Dominion, 2v2 Brawls, 1v1 Duels, 4v4 Team Death Matches, and 4v4 Elimination.

One of the most exciting things that has been revealed about this game, aside from the amazing medieval combat, is the incorporation of factions. The game contains 3 factions from which to choose from: Vikings, Knights, and Samurai. Each faction is locked in a war for survival against the other factions, this is all out kill or be killed war. Each faction fights just to exist. Another exciting feature of this game is that each faction is split into various warrior classes. For example, if you choose to side with the Viking faction you have a choice of: Berserkers, Raiders, Warlords, or Valkyries. Each style of warrior has it’s own unique attributes to help to achieve dominance on the fields of battle.

The game is set to release February 14th of 2017 and currently has registration open for Beta access.  As of right now there are 4 editions to choose from when pre-ording: Standard Edition, Deluxe Edition, Gold Edition, and the Collectors Edition. As one might have come to expect, yes the collectors edition does come with unique collectibles such as: the three individual faction helmets on a stand, the games soundtrack, and an exclusive lithograph.

In a world fraught with danger and scarce of the resources necessary to survive three opposing factions must fight for their existence. Will you help your faction survive and rise to dominance on the fields of victory? Or will you like so many others fall in battle? “If this is the day you fall in battle fear not, for tonight you will be feasting with the gods!”
