Hideo Kojima Reveals A Delicious New Death Stranding Detail
It’s no secret that Kojima Productions put a massive amount of work into Death Stranding, realizing Hideo Kojima’s vision while also introducing a decidedly divisive title to gamers all around the world. While plenty of actions were performed outside the game to make Death Stranding what it is today, what many may not know is that there was some actual honest to goodness baking involved in order to create one of the title’s Easter eggs.
Hideo Kojima recently took to Twitter to speak about the special event that takes place should a player play Death Stranding on their birthday. For those that don’t know, protagonist Sam has some special interactions with the other Sams out in the world on such an auspicious day, though the real treat comes when Sam enters his private room to find a birthday cake waiting for him. In order to make such a delectable treat as real-looking as possible, apparently the cakes were handmade and scanned into the game….right before being eaten by the Kojima Productions team. Check out the tweet below:
All the cakes appeared in DEATH STRANDING is handmade. We scan the real made cakes and after that we enjoyed eating them.

This is by no means the only Easter egg to be found in Death Stranding, though it is by far the most delicious one. Couldn’t you just eat that cake up and wash it down with one of Sam’s Monster Energy Drinks? That should give you a big enough sugar-high to ensure some swift deliveries across the post-apocalyptic America.
Death Stranding is now available for PlayStation 4, with a PC version arriving next year.
