Henry Cavill Enjoys Staying Home And Playing Warhammer
Netflix’s The Witcher is off to an impressive start so far, garnering mostly positive criticism and proving to the masses why the show earned itself a second season months before the release of season one. A sizable part of the show’s success is undoubtedly thanks to Henry Cavill, who has proven time and time again that he really is the perfect fit to play Geralt of Rivia. During the initial promotional tour for the series he confirmed that he was a big fan of The Witcher video games, though it has recently been revealed that he enjoys numerous other games as well, including Warhammer.
In a recent interview with British GQ, Henry Cavill admitted that one of his favorite pastimes is hanging out in shorts and a T-shirt playing Total War: Warhammer II. Cavill admits that he has played hundreds of hours across six different playthroughs “with six different races,” and that he loves it each and every time. On a weightier note, Cavill revealed that part of why he loves staying at home and playing games so much is that it’s an enjoyable way of escaping from his fame, especially moreso after his popularity skyrocketed following his turn as Superman. “Every time I step out my front door, I’m hyper aware,” he says. “Even if I’m not looking terrible, you still realize there are people taking sneaky photos of you, because that’s what people like to do. And then they put them on the internet and you see them on Instagram and you’re like, ‘Oh, my god.’”
At home, I get to sit playing games for ridiculous amounts of hours and escape there, because going outside has the opposite effect.”
If how successful Netflix’s The Witcher series has become is any indication, chances are high that Henry Cavill will be spending a lot more time at home trying to avoid the spotlight. Can you blame him?
The first season of Netflix’s The Witcher is now available.
