Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Is Coming To Nintendo Switch (VIDEO)
The Nintendo Switch has promised its users that 2019 will bring many wonderful experiences to its fan base in 2019. Aside from the big new Nintendo titles like new Pokémon and Animal Crossing games, much of the console’s support is coming from third parties. These publishers are not only bringing new games, but also ports of pre-existing classics like Final Fantasy VII and Terraria. One more recent classic many have wondered if it might see a Switch port is Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, which won many awards for its performances and creative direction. Now, it seems that a Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Nintendo Switch version is indeed on the way.
The new Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice Nintendo Switch version trailer, seen above from IGN’s official YouTube account, was included in today’s Nintendo Direct live presentation. For those unaware, Hellblade, first released in 2017 on PS4 and PC, tells the story of a Pict warrior named Senua. Senua experiences hearing voices in her head, and in order to accurately depict this type of psychosis, developer Ninja Theory consulted heavily with mental health professionals to ensure the proper portrayal of such mental difficulties in the game.
While the game is quite polished with stunning visuals and brilliant audio design, its smaller budget compared to other big titles made it a somewhat smaller game compared to heavy hitters on PC, PS4 and Xbox. However, it seems that this will work in the favor of the Switch, as it will be easier to bring over to the hybrid home/portable console this spring. It may have been a Sacrifice much smaller than Senua’s, but it definitely seems like it was worth it.
