H1Z1 Battle Royale Port Announced For PlayStation 4, Open Beta Coming Soon (VIDEO)
With the unceasing titans that are Fortnite and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds now dominating the gaming landscape, it can be difficult to remember that the Battle Royale genre as a whole came from much smaller, more humble beginnings. Daybreak Games’ free-to-play title H1Z1 was, in fact, doing Battle Royale before it was cool, and now it looks like the game is making its way onto the PlayStation 4 as a port later this year. Check out the announce teaser video for the port below:
Announced by the developer in a recent press release, the upcoming PlayStation 4 port of H1Z1 will have more to offer than just a regular old port of an older PC game. According to Daybreak Games, the PS4 port is “designed specifically for the console and focuses exclusively on the core elements that make battle royale exciting. The game features a new weapon progression system, fully reworked UI, and new weapons and gear.” While also on the subject of PC/PS4 version differences, Daybreak has also revealed that the port will have “key gameplay differentiators to keep the game frantic and fun,” and that H1Z1 on the PS4 will be “an action shooter’s dream of fast-paced battle royale.”
While we currently do not have a release date, Daybreak Games has announced that an Open Beta for the PS4 port will begin on May 22, 2018. Additionally, those that pre-order the game before May 22 will receive multiple in-game cosmetic items along with a special dynamic theme for the PS4. PlayStation Plus members will also receive 20% off their pre-order.
H1Z1 is currently available for PC, and the PS4 port will arrive later this year.
