Final Fantasy IV’s Golbez Confirmed For Dissidia NT (VIDEO)

Golbez confirmed for Dissidia NT

In a rather unsurprising move by Square Enix, the Japanese publisher has announced that Final Fantasy IV’s Golbez is joining the Dissidia NT roster as another of its returning veteran playable characters. Marking his third appearance in the Dissidia Final Fantasy series, the blue-armored Lunarian relies on long-ranged magical attacks, some of which hone in on targets. Check out the trailer – which rather fittingly features the “Battle With the Four Fiends” music –  below to get a glimpse of Golbez’s playstyle:

Fans of Golbez from the previous two Dissidia Final Fantasy games will be happy to hear that his Shadow Dragon is included in a significant mumber of his dark magic-based attacks. It appears that he has two sets of abilities: one set where Golbez uses his own magical power, and another set which he gains access to after he summons his Shadow Dragon, which acts as a catalyst for his abilities. Given that Golbez is technically a marksman and has far reaching magical attacks, one would assume that the best way to fight him is to get up close and lay the hurt on. Unfortunately, a significant number of his attacks fly outward from Golbez, so he appears to be dangerous at all ranges.

Golbez has historically been the Final Fantasy IV villain entry in the Dissidia series, despite not actually being the ‘main bad guy’ within the FFIV games. As such, he was one of the original Warriors of Chaos on the PSP games, with Cecil opposing him as the obvious choice for the game’s hero entry in the series, especially given the story-related friction between the two characters. Dissidia Final Fantasy NT arrives in the US on January 30, 2018 for PlayStation 4.
